Tips for Fly in Fly Out (FIFO) Parenting

Every family is unique in its structure. For some families, they have one parent that is a FIFO (Fly in, Fly Out) worker where they fly out to complete their work for days or sometimes weeks at a time. I have worked in the far north west of Western Australia and have met a number of FIFO parents and I have had FIFO parents in my own family. It can be tricky at times to navigate and physically and emotionally taxing for the other parent who is at home with the children.

In this month’s Maggie offers some practical tips to support FIFO families and help parents build those micro connections from a distance and when they are back at home.
