A few words from the Marion Council about this playground…
Shamrock Road Reserve, Hallett Cove is open. This ‘neighbourhood playground’ was upgraded in 2019 and opened in December. Kids can race down the embankment tube slide, swing on the basket swing, or take turns on the water pump and water rill. Bringing your own toy boats to race down the water rill is encouraged.
Older kids can test their balance on the stepping pipes and log crossings or get amongst the adventure as they explore the dry creek bed. There is a timber bridge over the rock-lined swale.
The artwork shows the magic of this playground which features a leprechaun and his pot of gold. Can you find him? There is a hidden treasure chest and mosaic artwork featured on one of the planter pots. See if you can find the treasure.
Youngsters can try the basket swing or share secrets across the playground with the talking tubes. The matching tube colours show which tube talks to the other – white, orange and green.
Stay for lunch and enjoy the double barbeque funded by The Australian Government who contributed $16,500 in grant funding through the Stronger Communities Program. The site features a shaded picnic table handy for lunch, snacks or a cool spot to unwind.
New plants, landscaping, walking paths and irrigation are featured throughout the grounds.
There is a drinking fountain on site along with shade sails and a new public toilet.
The playground is located near six tennis courts.
