Note from the school:
Our outdoor play spaces include natural features and add interest and stimulation to the children’s learning. They allow open-ended interactions, spontaneity, risk taking, exploration, discovery and connection with nature. On the 28th June 2016 we were recognised and awarded winner of the category Education for Sustainability–Community group in the City of Stirling Living Green Sustainability Awards.
Sustainable practices are embedded in the children’s daily routine and in their day-to-day. The children participate in our ‘garden to plate’ activities i.e. seed sprouting, weeding, vegetable gardens, cooking amongst other activities. This creates positive food habits through fun, hands-on learning.
We participate in the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Foundation regularly and have recently been featured in their newsletter. We share the same vision as the foundation, which is to create pleasurable food education to children during their formative years, in order to form positive food habits for life.
We feel that it’s important to teach the children how to care about the environment and to be respectful of the environment.
