The Magic Yellow Cloud – for grief & loss (audio)

Kate’s Aunty Meg then tells her the story of the magic yellow cloud, which reminds us that we always keep a place in our hearts for the people (and pets) who are special to us. For many children whose parents who do not practise a faith, and so there is no concept of heaven, death can be very final with no hope of renewal or reunion. The magic yellow cloud models the heaven metaphor without religious overtones which brings comfort to young children if there is a death of a loved one.

Creative visualisation is extremely useful in helping to fill children’s imaginations with images that help them feel safe, loved, valued and protected.

After using The Magic Yellow Cloud, it may be useful to progress children to listening to Endless Journey, in order to help them understand their part in the cycle of life.

“Our much loved 17 year old cat has been very ill and we plan on taking her to be put to sleep within the next couple of days.  I have been playing that meditation [The Magic Yellow Cloud] to them and it’s helped all of us. Your seminar has also given me the courage to explain to them, in simple words what will happen to her.  I haven’t told lies or used ‘fluffy’ language and it makes things more simple and straightforward, but no less hurtful.  It is sad and it does hurt our hearts, but we will be ok.”
